David Lawrence’s new memoir, The King of White-Collar Boxing, has just come out from Rain Mountain Press. His poetry has appeared in journals such as Poet Lore, Nimrod, Antioch Review, North American Review, Shenandoah, California Quarterly, The South Carolina Review, as well as the chapbook, Blame It On the Scientists. His books include Lane Changes, Dementia Pugilistica, Steel Toe Boots and Boxer Rebellion. The movie of Boxer Rebellion played at the Sundance Film Festival. A former English professor turned Wall Street tycoon who was jailed for tax evasion and became a boxing pro and rapper, he wrote three rap albums and the lyrics for Sam Wayman’s jazz album. Today he teaches boxing at Gleason’s world-famous gym.
